When a volume of a hard drive partition has been accessed, the data stored on it can then be seen and retrieved.

Upgraded versions of the Disk Utility program on Mac has features like easily adding, deleting and resizing of partitions. It can resize or increase the size of a particular partition without having to delete the entire partition or even to divide a partition into multiple ones. In order to partition your hard disk using Mac utility Disk, follow this steps below

  1. Go to Applications on your Mac and launch Disk Utility from the Utilities section.
  2. You should see a display of available hard drives and volumes in a list on the left pane of the Disk Utility program window.

  5. Select number of partitions to be created from the “Volume Scheme” heading on the selected hard drive.

  7. Disk Utility requires that you select a name, format and size (measured in gigabytes) for each partition to be created.

  12. When your new partitions are ready, you can decide to install operating systems on any of the partitions or send files to the them.
